Nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie, the "Butcher of Lyon", is arrested in Bolivia, where he was residing and advising the Bolivian government in torture methods after the CIA ensured his immunity from war crimes prosecution, employed him in their anti-communist efforts, and aided his escape to Bolivia to avoid legally-required US extradition to France (for which the US government was finally forced to officially apologize for upon his capture)
